#OnTap: AWE’s Take on the Martinez Cocktail

If you’ve never had a chance to kick back and enjoy a classic Martinez cocktail, here’s what you’re missing, at least in the “traditional” sense: gin or rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, maraschino liqueur and some orange bitters, all added to a shaker and topped with ice. The concoction is then shaken, strained and poured into a chilled coupe glass to create a strong, balanced drink that will likely appeal to fans of the Negroni, the Manhattan or a similar libation.
Here at AWE, we love to put our own spin on some classic cocktails, and we feel this month’s take is especially inspired. Rather than utilize gin or rye whiskey, we relied on Caskwerks’ Apple Pie Liqueur, a sweet, but not too sweet, specialty liquor that conjures up visions of apple-picking, pumpkin patches and hoodies. The end result is a crowd-pleasing cocktail with a lower alcohol content than the classic version, so you can enjoy one or two and still keep your wits about you (should you want to!). Besides, this is something we’re shaking up during business hours, and we are, after all, professionals. So next time you’re in the neighborhood, swing by and see if we can whip one up on your behalf.

Not into drinking during the workday? We’re sorry. In all seriousness, though, we still have you covered here at AWE and can deliver a serious caffeine fix in the form of our on-tap, Cartel Cold Brew Coffee. It’s caffeine-packed, it’s frothy and it’s unlike any coffee you’ve had before. And if we’re being honest, we also have plans to create some kind of cocktail (sue us) based around it, so stop in and see what kind of buzz we can create when we merge beans and booze together for the benefit of our friends and clients.
